Each year, the Veterans of Foreign Wars selects elementary, middle, and high school teachers to participate in the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Program. The Department will select a single candidate in each grade level and submit them to VFW National Headquarters by 1 February 2023 for national judging. Department Teacher winners that are received at National Headquarters will receive a VFW National citation for both the winning teacher and their school.

Our VERY OWN Lynette Risk was selected as the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year Award here at the local level in Utah County, as a 6th Grade Teacher. Her Award Nomination Package now moves forward to the National Level for her outstanding work here at Rock Canyon and in the PCSD.
