Mrs. Pancake’s Math Class

We have a lot to cover in math this year.  To make it easier for you, please make sure you have completely memorized all of your addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts!  Keep up with the daily homework assignments, and get them turned in on time. Please don’t hesitate to come see me if you get behind or need additional help.  I am available to help students during recess time, flex time, and before or after school by appointment.

Order of math instruction

We follow the Provo School District curriculum pacing guidelines for math.  This pacing guide occasionally creates a need for us to teach lessons in a different order than how they are presented in the book.  Here is the order of what we will be teaching each quarter:

Quarter 1:

• Integers and Rational Numbers
• Factors and Multiples
• Fractions
• Decimals

Quarter 2:

• Ratios, Rates, Proportions
• Measurement Systems
• Percents
• Numeric Expressions

Quarter 3:

• Algebraic Expressions
• Solving Linear Equations and Inequalities
• Coordinate Planes
• Area

Quarter 4:

• Surface Area and Volume
• Displaying and Analyzing Data
