Rock Canyon Elementary Community Council

Present: Karen Brock, Melanie Baird, Justin King, Jon Felt, Kim Fountain, Gina Pitts

• Discussion of the Community Council website (Utah Community Council)
• Rock Canyon recently had a safety audit.
  • Safety measures in place-panic buttons. Raptor working well. Doors are locked in the morning to control the flow. No parents in the cafeteria during lunch hours. Teachers have “C” door stoppers which are easy to remove during an emergency. Back out curtains in each classroom.
• Electronic device policy is posted in the front office. No cell phone use during school.
• Possible election to expand Rock Canyon Community Council.
  • Karen Brock will put it in the newsletter inviting all to come. At least 4 community council members can decide if more members are needed.
• February meeting will check on math data. NWEA assessments.
  • “How are students improving?” “Are high students growing?”
• Jon Felt reported data on the crosswalk. Data included number of students using the crosswalk daily.
• Justin King motioned to adjourn. Melanie Baird seconded.
• Next meeting Jan. 9th at 2pm.
