Pasta can serve many purposes, the most common purpose is food. We eat and enjoy many types of pasta.

Did you know that one of the purposes pasta can have is by helping students understand math concepts? Crazy, right? Here at Rock Canyon we love finding different and creative ways to help students understand the concepts they are being taught.

In Mrs. Duncan’s third grade class, her students were learning about the associative property of multiplication. To help get more comfortable with this concept, the students worked on the associative property of multiplication using pasta as parentheses to help her students learn and understand this concept! The kids were better able to understand this property of multiplication and it gave students a different way of learning that can help them retain this knowledge.

The class loved being able to work on this concept hands on to help learn and better understand this concept. Such a fun and creative way to learn and it is experiences like these that help our students here at Rock Canyon learn and succeed!
